a makeover – financial style!

In 1 on August 28, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Lulu is a total sucker for makeovers, I watch marathons of what not to wear and can recite stacy and clinton’s rules by heart! But a makeover is not just about the outside, one of the things that alot of us just need a clearer understanding of is how to take care of our financial health. If you are a dead ringer for the starlet in Confessions of a Shopaholic, this might just be for you!
Divas enjoy the finer things in life and are always up for any sort of social event where a tasty cocktail and our presence guarantees a good time. Occasionally, there are times when it’s natural to prioritize fashion over bills, use credit like cash and get manicures over mortgages. It’s no secret that the diva lifestyle can be as expensive as it is glamorous, and it is certainly very easy to get carried away at times. Can you relate, diva? Well, we have the perfect casting call opportunity for you: Bank of Mom and Dad.

If you are the type that seems to walk in Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolos, but may be flirting with a Zsa-Zsa like bankruptcy; now may be your time in the spotlight for you to learn how to balance your diva spending habits and learn to revitalize your financial future, all while maintaining your stunning style.

BBC Productions is looking for divas that live a fabulous lifestyle, but may need a financial makeover to be part of a new docu-reality series which is now casting; just email bomadcasting@bbcnyproduction.com. The best part is that if you are one of the lucky divas that are cast, you will strut away with knowledge that will last a lifetime and a little help taking care of the fall ’05 wardrobe you’re still paying off. Now that’s what we call a WWD…a win-win divastyle!

inviteaubreyodaylulu has to admit, she is not a huge fan of Aubreay O’Day so when we got invited to the “dare to love” lauch of her latest fashion line at owl’s lab, we were wondering how it would turn out…well we are still wondering since its happening tomorrow, but totally excited to see how it will turn out tomorrow.. lulu is curious to see if there was any extreme photoshopping done on behalf of her pix in Playboy…. or will she seems that she has about 10 pounds to lose??~?~???  as I am enjoying my wine and cheese here…I can criticize all I want!!!!   LOL, you can rsvp and tell for yourself!! 😀

New York’s Fashion Night OUT!!

In Beauty, Events, Fashion on August 24, 2009 at 7:57 pm

New York is abuzz with the upcoming Fashion Night Out! Its a great way to revitalize the economy and have a blast at the same time – the best of both worlds for Lulu!

You are now allowed to hyperventilate. The program of Fashion’s Night Out events has been released, and the list of participating stores goes on and on. To help you decide your itinerary for the evening of September 10, we’ve done the dirty work and we’ll present Top Ten lists every day this week.

First we looked at the Top Ten Overall Events, but now on to the Top Ten Freebies. That there will be plenty gifts-with-purchase during Fashion’s Night Out is a given, but what about straight free stuff? We need some motivation to rush around this city on our 1-day subway pass and free stuff will definitely do it.  (ripped from RackedNY)

Our list of the Top Ten Freebies of Fashion’s Night Out does not mean you have to buy anything; it’s pure FNO booty. Just don’t forget to say “Thank You.”

10. “Discovery Size” perfume collection at Le Labo Le Labo is one of the ritziest places to have your signature scent created, and to get FNO shoppers familiar with them and this service, stop into their boutique and they’ll give you a “Discovery Size” set of their perfumes. 233 Elizabeth Street.

9. La Esquina BBQ at Tory Burch Hungry yet? The hardcore FNO shoppers will be famished by their 3rd store visit, and we’ll bet most of them will make a detour from other MePa shop to Tory Burch’s block party, complete with BBQ food from La Esquina. We’re already penciling this in as our dinner. 38-40 Little West 12th Street.

8. Charm at TenThousandThings Forget T-shirts and totebags and all the other crap you usually get for free anyways; MePa jewelry boutique TenThousandThings will give a special FNO charm. For those who are sticking to Midtown through Fashion’s Night Out, you can also get this charm at their shop Good Fortune at The Plaza Hotel. 423 West 14th Street.

7. Yoga Classes and Yoga Mats at Adidas Starting from 7pm, the co-owner of Virayoga in Soho will be on hand for full yoga classes, whose participants will walk away with free Adidas yoga mats. You’ll also be able to enter to win an Adidas shopping spree and private yoga lessons while browsing the new Stella McCartney and Porsche Design collections. 610 Broadway and Houston.

6. 1,000 Cosmetic Giveaways at Saks Last time we went into Saks, we left with a free “deluxe” tester of Chanel No.5, and it was nothing to sniff at. With Fashion’s Night Out, they are upping the ante by giving away over 1,000 cosmetic samples throughout the night. You can also chat with Frederic Fekkai and Bobbi Brown, so it’ll be the nice stuff. 611 Fifth Avenue.

5. Free Blowouts and more at Arrojo Studio Did someone say “free blowout?” You will hear the heels clicking on the pavement for free blowouts, styling tips and bang trims at Arrojo Studio during Fashion’s Night Out. And yes, this is the studio of Nick Arrojo from “What Not To Wear” on TLC. 56 King Street.

4. Vogue-favorite gift bag at Korres For those who are wary of drinking champagne all night, how about some antioxidant cocktails at Korres’ Detox Bar? That’s not all, however, as visiting Korres during FNO means you’ll also get natural cupcakes, makeovers, and a gift bag with Vogue’s favorite Korres products. 110 Wooster Street

3. A bag at Anya Hindmarch So technically it’s more of a contest, but the odds are so good and it’ll take such little time that we must include Anya’s “How Do You Wear It” bag giveaway. Simply choose your favorite bag in the store, be photographed posing with it, and if Anya likes your stuff, you win the bag. We’re so there. 115 Greene Street.

2. Runway hairstyling at Bumble and Bumble Got a full roster of fashion shows the following day, or just want to look awesome at work? At the House of Bumble, you can point to a hairstyle from the F/W 09 runways and a Bumble stylist will recreate it on you. So many possibilities! Bumble and Bumble are always so great about supporting Fashion Week that we wouldn’t expect anything less from them. 146 East 56th Street.

1. Jade Manicures at the Chanel Nail Bar Look, like with every other #1 on our FNO lists, you should give yourself ample time for these events, if not the whole evening. There will no doubt be a long line at Chanel’s Soho store as they will give guests free mini-manicures with their coveted, not-yet-released jade nail polish. 139 Spring Street.

Mad Men taking over NYC

In 1 on August 12, 2009 at 3:30 pm

The season premiere for one of lulu’s fav series is coming soon and the entire new york city is a buzz with specially themed events for Mad Men!
starting tonight with a party at The Gates, the festivities will continue all week 😀

Deets as follows:
For all you Maddicts in NYC, prepare for next week’s onslaught of Mad Men-themed events around the city. Next week, special activities — ranging from the artsy to the sporty to the boozy — kick into gear. And it all culminates on Sun., Aug.16 at 10PM with a spectacular outdoor screening of the Season 3 premiere in Times Square.

• Starting Mon., Aug. 10, the Hilton hotels on 1335 Ave. of the Americas or 55 Church St. are serving up period-perfect cocktails. That means that you can order a Brandy Alexander or a Tom Collins without having the bartender go “Huh?”

• On Wed., Aug. 12, the Museum of Arts & Design (aka MAD) gets into the spirit with a 3-minute loop showcasing advertising from the era, along with signature designs from the Sterling Cooper portfolio such as Belle Jolie and Popsicle. This public art piece will run through Sat., Aug. 15 and be projected on the museum’s facade, so get there after dark.

• For sports fans, the New York Mets celebrate their team’s inaugural decade (the ’60s of course!) with a special section designated for Mad Men fans at Citi Field. Lucky attendees will receive fedoras but everyone can enjoy the period cocktails served at some of the stadium’s bars. The game against the San Francisco Giants begins 7:10PM on Fri., Aug. 14.

And lastly, the week winds up with the premiere of Season 3 broacast on the big screen in Times Square on Sun., Aug. 16 at 10PM. Be sure to come dressed in your ’60s best for a pre-screening costume contest at 8PM.

Gotta find a great time piece that shows off the curves for the parties to come….have you got your outfit set?
